The original production of Ruska series was stamped partly on top of the glaze and it often has worn away in use, so stamped Ruska dishes are rare. Ruska means autumn colors in Finnish, and the rustic and earthy look defines this extremely popular series. Ruska’s rugged surface was created by spraying powdered black iron to a matte glaze giving each piece a slightly unique artisanal and smoky look. The color of the glazing shifts in tone from paler to more deep tones giving the design a rustic feel. Designed by Ulla Procope & made in Finland circa 1960-1980
