Description: Rare Fluted Porcelain Rice Vase. Arabia Finland Vase rice grain porcelain was designed by Friedl Holtzer Kjellberg for Arabia. Rice porcelain is an old Chinese method. The wall of an object is pierced through with a sharp tool. After bisquit firing the hole is filled with glaze which melts into the hole in the final firing, creating a small translucent window. These pieces are very difficult to produce. Arabia produced rice porcelain between 1945-1975. 5 1/4″ high x 5 3/4″ wide. Excellent vintage condition. No chips or cracks or flaws of any kind.
